RegaRio
2017 - 2019
RegaRio is an artistic intervention of the urban landscape that goes far beyond the decorating of insipid walls – it offers serendipity to all who witness the flowers’ contrast within concrete jungles.

Between the years of 2016-2019, I spread massive paper flowers around Rio de Janeiro in an effort to help the city flourish.
To go with the movement, I wrote the following manifesto:
(translated from portuguese)

We are the young people of the cities. We work, we study, we go out. We are used to leading a life at 1000 miles per hour, having our minds a long way from our bodies, trying to savor every second to its fullest and make the clock tick a little slower, but despite all efforts, there never seems to be enough time to actually live.

We know the rush, we live anxiety, we undergo stress and that is precisely how we know the power and the need of taking a deep breath within this chaos.

This pause is called RegaRio.

The RegaRio movement seeks to water the cities allowing them to blossom and with it, its inhabitants. It’s an artistic intervention of the urban landscape that goes far beyond the decorating of insipid walls – it offers serendipity to all who witness the flowers’ contrast within concrete jungles. It enraptures observers with colorful petals covering previously lifeless landscapes and offers their minds a much needed rest during contemplation.

An escape from the tumult, precious seconds when we are fully aware, fully awake and fully alive.

RegaRio is renewal, mindfulness, inspiration for yourself and for others taking the shape of colorful, fluid flowers. Our mission is collective, unstoppable and anonymous. It is the first ripple of a wave, with the growth power of wild grass. Allow yourself to be inspired and share this renewal with those around you by planting new seeds wherever you are. You are now part of the movement.
